AM26LV32: AM26LV32 or other RS-422 TINA or PSPICE model available?

Part Number: AM26LV32
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65HVD1786

Hello,

I have a customer request for a TINA or PSPICE model for the AM26LV32.  Is one available for this product, or any other RS-422 driver?  If not, what have we provided to other customers looking to accomplish system level simulations?

  • Hi Collin,

We don't really have many RS-422/RS-485 models at all - the one that I know of is the SN65HVD1786 which isn't a great stand-in part for the AM26LV32 and the model is pretty simplistic (it doesn't guarantee a lot of the specs but gives a good idea on overall part  functionality ).

Generally we default to IBIS models (which this part has an IBIS model) for customers looking for system level testing) and a lot of the time that seems to be okay.

That being said - we are in the process of developing a base RS-###  typical use case spice model so that we start producing more Spice models in addition to the IBIS models. Right now the system is more or less in quality testing phases with hopes of our first newer models hopefully in Q4 of this year (maybe Q3 - but that may be a little too optimistic) - we don't have a concrete priority scheduling yet, but generally it would be focused on newer parts or parts with high demand.

Does your customer have an issue with IBIS simulations, i.e. do they need a spice model?

    Best,

    Parker Dodson

  • Hi Parker,

Customer has confirmed they'll use the IBIS model for signal integrity sims but are asking for a functional use-case model for system level testing.  With engineers being remote at many sites, system level simulations of components that have traditionally not had SPICE models are getting asked for more regularly.

Thank you for the updates on future RS-xxx SPICE models, please be sure to broadcast widely to field teams when they're complete.  Until then, I'll let them know about the SN65HVD1786 model and hope it suffices for some basic checks.
