TCAN1051G-Q1: CAN Communication not working after device replacement from TJA1051T/3

Part Number: TCAN1051G-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1051

Hi Team,

We have replaced TJA1051T/3 with TCAN1051GDRBTQ1 as you can see in the below snaps,

We are facing issue in getting the CAN communication, as we can see both the devices run on similar hardware configurations,

Request you to suggest the possible rootcauses of the issue observed.

  • Hi Akshay,

Thanks for posting your findings on E2E.

Would you be able to share more information about the failure you see once you switch to TCAN1051?

    • What type of failure is happening with CAN communication?
      • When the transceiver is driving, are packets being dropped but some transmitting successfully? If so, what is the frequency of error? Is communication possible at all?
      • Is the transceiver capable of receiving CAN data from the bus without issue?
    • What error is being reported by the CAN controller that is connected to the TCAN1051?
      • Stuff error, form error, bit0 or bit1 error, etc.
    • What is the data rate the system is running CAN communication at? If FD, please include both nominal (arbitration) and FD data rates.
    • If possible, please capture scope shots of the CANH and CANL lines as well as the digital TXD and RXD signals while the TCAN1051 is driving CAN data.
      • Please show a timescale where a single bit-time is clearly visible and the digital and CAN bus transitions can be evaluated.
      • Please include a larger timescale that shows a single CAN frame (with error frame if occurring) to evaluate the position of error occurrence.

Let me know if you have any questions in the meantime.

    Regards,
    Eric Schott
