TCAN1044AV-Q1: How to connect the VIO pin

Part Number: TCAN1044AV-Q1

・Does the TCAN1044AV operate without connecting VIO?
(I think the TCAN1044AV does not work properly because the RXD logic circuit does not work.)

・Can the VIO of the TCAN1044AV be pulled up to VCC via a resistor?
If it is possible to pull up to VCC via a resistor, what is the recommended pull-up resistor value?

  • VIO is a power supply, so it must be connected, and it should be connected without a resistor, and it must have a decoupling capacitor.

If you have a board intended to be used with another CAN transceiver that wants a pullup on pin 5, then change that resistor to 0 Ω.

  • Takanori-san,

Clemens is correct, and please note that any of the CAN transceivers in our portfolio that have a "V" suffix will have this VIO supply input, which is the logic supply input. The TCAN1044A-Q1 would be the equivalent of TCAN1044AV-Q1, except that the non-V does not have VIO.

    Best,

    Danny
