Hi Team

There is a good new that we could DIN TI product!

Customer is looking a bridge IC for DPI to dual-port OLDI transferring.

Because we DIN AM62A and customer need dual-port OLDI function,

But our AM62A has only DPI port, Could TI suggest a bridge IC for DPI to dual-port OLDI transferring.

(This is a display that supports AM62A.
AM62A display output only has DPI 24-bit RGB parallel interface.
When connected to a 12.3 inch LCD display, it must be converted to dual-port OLDI (even, odd).)

>>>Please help suggest TI solution, THX

  • Hi Kygo,

Do you know what PCLK the bridge IC will need to deal with? Does the IC also need to be automotive qualified?

    Regards,

    Jack Scherlag

  • Hi Jack

(This is a display that supports AM62A.
AM62A display output only has DPI 24-bit RGB parallel interface.
When connected to a 12.3 inch LCD display, it must be converted to dual-port OLDI (even, odd).)

    AM62A PCLK max. is 165MHz,

The application is for automotive solution, so AEC-Q100 is required.

  • Hi Kygo,

Do you have a defined range for the PCLK using the display parameters? This will help me narrow down the appropriate IC.

When connected to a 12.3 inch LCD display

Is the signal from the AM62A only going through the bridge IC then on to the LCD display? Are there any SerDes devices in-between?

    Regards,

    Jack

  • Hi Kygo,

I found a potential device that could fit your required needs. The DS90C189-Q1 can convert from parallel RGB to dual OLDI. I'll attach a link to the datasheet.

  • Hi Jack

    Thanks,

Do you have a defined range for the PCLK using the display parameters? This will help me narrow down the appropriate IC.

    >>>The PCLK will have two option, one is 160MHz another is 90MHz

Is the signal from the AM62A only going through the bridge IC then on to the LCD display? Are there any SerDes devices in-between?

    >>>Will have Serdes DS90UB947-Q1 & DS90UB948-Q1

  • Hi Kygo,

    Will have Serdes DS90UB947-Q1 & DS90UB948-Q1

    Is the signal chain: AM62A -> bridge IC -> DS90UB947 -> DS90UB948 -> LCD Display?

Did the IC I previously mentioned fit your specifications?

    Regards,

    Jack

  • Hi Jack,

    Thank you,

This part looks suitable but not sure whether there is non-Q1 grade version? THX

Cost could be a concern in this case.

The DS90C189-Q1Bridge is designed to support single pixel data transmission between a Host and a Flat Panel Display at resolutions of up to QXGA (2048x1536) at 60 Hz. The transmitter converts up to 24 bits (Single Pixel 24-bit color) of 1.8-V LVCMOS data into two channels of 4 data + clock (4D+C) reduced width interface LVDS compatible data streams.

DS90C189-Q1 supports 2 modes of operation.

    • In single pixel mode in/out mode, the device can drive up to SXGA+ (1400x1050) at 60 Hz. In this mode, the device converts one bank of 24-bit RGB data to a one channel 4D+C LVDS data stream.
    • In single pixel in / dual pixel out mode, the device can drive up to WUXGA+ (1920x1440) at 60 Hz. In this configuration, the device provides single-to-dual pixel conversion and converts one bank of 24-bit RGB data into two channels of 4D+C LVDS streams at half the pixel clock rate.

For all the modes, the device supports 24bpp color.

The DS90C189-Q1 is offered in a small 64 pin QFN package and features single 1.8 V supply for minimal power dissipation.

  • Hi Kygo,

The DS90C187 is non-Q1. If you need a 3.3v version, there is the DS90C387.

Is the customer set on using 947 and 948? A DS90UB921 or DS90UB925 can convert from parallel RGB to dual OLDI at the cost of lower bandwidth.

    Jack
