TDP142: Question about device status

Hello team,

My customer has asked about how to confirm device status.

There are GPIO mode and I2C mode in this device. So, can you please let me know how to confirm device status by each mode?

Regarding I2C mode, what specific register represents the status?

Hi David,

There are some devices(MUX, redriver) in the signal path. So, the customer just wants to check if device is normal or abnormal to debug when the system does not work. I think it is something like PG for DCDC regulator..

Being a linear redriver, TDP142 does not have a pin or a register bit to report its own status. You may able to look at TDP142 power consumption number as an indication of its state.

Can you explain more detail about power consumption number?

The customer has designed both GPIO and I2C mode. For I2C mode, is there any register about power consumption number?

There is no way to report the power consumption number through the I2C register.

The power consumption can only be monitored externally on DP142 VCC power rail. For the power consumption number under different conditions, please refer to the DP142 datasheet.
