DS90UB947-Q1: some questions

Part Number: DS90UB947-Q1

Hi team,

For UB947, how to understand the single link and dual link? Single link means single FPD-LINK port? Why single link can support 170MHz?

For UB948, how to understand the single link and dual link? Single link means single oLDI port? When use dual link mode, the frequency of CLK1+- is half of PCLK, the MIN of UB948 is 50MHz, It doesn't make sense.

  • Hi Jiawei,

For UB947, you're right. Single link means single FPD-Link port. This should be max 96MHz as a below screenshot on UB947 features. Thank you for pointing this out.

For UB948, single link means single oLDI port. The frequency of dual link mode is twice with single link. To understand the configuration for UB948, please refer to below data-path diagram.

  • Hi Josh,

    Thanks for your reply!

For UB947, if you are sure it's typo, pls update it in datasheet.

For UB948, if we use dual link output(8*data lane+2*CLK lane)and the PCLK is 90M, the frequency of each CLK lane frequency is 45MHz. It's out of 948 spec, how to understand?

  • Hi Jiawei,

I will share this typo for UB947 with my team.

The specification that you uploaded is for dual link. Each PCLK lane will be one half of dual link, so the range of each link is 25 MHz to 96 MHz as you uploaded the specification at first time. The frequency range of dual link would be twice the each link, so PCLK 90MHz (dual link) is in our UB948 spec. Moreover, it is covered each PLCK 45 MHz on UB948 single link frequency range.

    Regards,

    Josh
