DP83867IR: Activity LED kind of slow

Part Number: DP83867IR

The phy is configured for rx+tx (default) => with medium to high traffic the led is almost all the time on. It is much 'slower' compared to other activity LEDs.
The blinking register doesn't seem to do anything.

Questions:
  • Is the slow blinking behavior intended?
  • Is there a way to make it blink like other activity LEDs?

  • Hi Christian,

Can you please let me know if you are referring to LED_2?

Can we rule out the blink rate dependency on the traffic? Can you please increase the activity to the highest possible and confirm if the blink rate is the same?

  • Hi Gokul,

Yes, i am refering to LED_2.

The blinking is somewhat dependend on the traffic but the LED is 'too long' on.
I try to add a video, the rightmost led is the LED_2. It is the the entire time on (less bright than the other leds), while the LEDs on the switch are flickering.

  • It's the LED in the red circle:

  • Hi Christian,

Sorry for driving you in a wrong direction.

LED_2 on DP83867 by default doesn't blink when there is activity. LED_2 is on when there is activity and off when there's no activity.

If blinking is required please program the LED_2 to the highlighted configuration.

  • Maybe I used the wrong word, I want the LED to be on when there is activity.
But as you can see in the video, it is the entire time on, while the LEDs at the switch are flickering

We try to use the highlighted configuration, maybe this is what we need, but I think this is for a combined Link/Activity LED

  • Hi Christian,

If the highlighted config is used, LED_2 will be on always when there is link and no activity. It will blink when there is activity.

  • Hi Gokul,

We tried the 1011 configuration, but as expected it is not what we want.

I guess we have to live with the current behavior.
