DS90UB928Q-Q1: Question about AV mute prevention

Hello TI experts,

My customer designs their own PCB with DS90UB928.

In development stage they saw AV mute, and they checked datasheet below;

9.3 AV Mute Prevention

The DS90UB928Q-Q1 may inadvertently enter the AV MUTE state if the serializer sends video data during

blanking period (DE = L) with a specific data pattern (24’h666666). Once the device enters the AV MUTE state,

the device mutes both audio and video outputs resulting in a black display screen. Setting the gate DE Register

0x04[4] on the serializer will prevent video signals from being sent during the blanking interval. This will ensure

AV MUTE mode is not entered during normal operation.

If unexpected AV MUTE state is seen, it is recommended to verify checking the data path control setting of the

paired Serializer. This setting is not accessible from DS90UB928Q-Q1.

1. What is the exact usage of "DE Gate RGB" register?

2. Why is the default state of "DE Gate RGB" register Low even if there is any possibility of entering AV mute stare?

3. Is it okay to set "DE Gate RGB" register High to prevent AV mute?

    When the data pattern 0x666666 shows up when DE is low, the receiver sends out a black screen. For the customer, this probably means an image with the RGB data of 0x666666 (most likely a shade of gray) was being sent outside of the DE signal. By setting Ser 0x4[4] = 1, the device will gate the RGB signals with the DE signal and prevent the AV Mute feature from detecting the 0x666666 data pattern when DE is low. 

    2. Why is the default state of "DE Gate RGB" register Low even if there is any possibility of entering AV mute stare?

    The default state for this reg. is 0xF0 which means it's set to Pass RGB data independent of DE in Backward Compatibility mode or interfacing to DS90UB925 or DS90UB927

    3. Is it okay to set "DE Gate RGB" register High to prevent AV mute?

    What Ser does the customer use in this application?
    Also, do you have the register dump for the Ser as well as Des? If yes, please send both.
