DS90UB960-Q1: how to do Power Over Coax circuit simulation/check

Part Number: DS90UB960-Q1

Hi,

we are doing feasibility analysis for DS90UB960-Q1 deserializer ic.

They have provided POC component values but how we can simulate/check before freezing the design.

Is there any way/simulation procedure to check POC(Power Over Coax) values.

Please help us in this point.

regards,

  • Hi Damodara,

The main key is ensuring adequate impedance across frequency at desired current profiles through the network. PoC networks' impedance of ≥ 1 kΩ over the specific frequency band is typically sufficient to isolate the transmission line from the loading of the regulator circuits.

The datasheet’s Power over Coax section provides recommended network/component combinations for 2G/4G links.

  • Hello Cummins,

    Thank you for info.

Is there any process/simulation guidelines to cross check the recommended values in TI datasheet.

This will be helpful in proving our design to the customer.

  • Hi Damodara,

Is there any process/simulation guidelines to cross check the recommended values in TI datasheet.

If other values/networks than what TI already recommends in the datasheet, customer can simulate based on S-parameters of the individual components to ensure that that collectively the network meets TIs requirements ( ≥ 1 kΩ as already mentioned)

All in all, it is recommended to just use the already validated networks listed in the datasheet.
