SN65DSI85-Q1: dual DSI to single LVDS questions

Part Number: SN65DSI85-Q1

Hi

  1. We are planning to use the SN65DSI85-Q1 in an automotive application with 2 DSI inputs and 1 LVDS output. We wanted split video (left/right), for a 1920x720 display. Is there any minimum size restriction on the left/right size. For example can we have left as 480x720pixel and right as 1440x720pixels ?
  2. In Dual DSI input with single LVDS output (left/right) with DSI channel A clk as reference clk, what will happened if DSI channel B fails (either disconnected or stops to render) ? will video from DSI A be still displayed ?

regards

Sankar

  • Hi Sankar,

    1. The CHA_DSI_CLK_RANGE, CHB_DSI_CLK_RANGE, refresh rate and bpp will all constrain your lower display size bound. The lowest range of CLK frequency is 40 ≤ frequency < 45 MHz as set by register 0x13 with value 0x08. Please use the DSI tuner tool to configure your device.

    2. In the Operating Mode "Dual DSI Input (Left/Right) to SingleLink LVDS," the Left pixels are received on Channel A and Right pixels received on Channel B. If channel B does not receive/transmit its pixel information then only the Left pixels will be transmitted across to the LVDS channel.

    Thanks,

    Zach
