DP83826E: BMCR/BMSR/CR2 Registers are all 28E3h

Part Number: DP83826E

Hi team

Our customers are testing DP83826E in servo, but they found some issues sometimes: they need to test hundreds of power cycle for mass production, but sometimes the link can't establish. We also get the some register values, we found that when the link is not OK, BMCR(00h), BMSR(01h) and CR2(0Ah) are all 28E3h, do you have any insight about this?

  • Hi Shaofeng,

Please send me a screenshot of the reads you are performing. Can you read any registers that are giving a different value than 0x28E3, or every read is that value?

    Thanks,

    David

  • Hi David

We just read three registers, but they are all the same value, it doesn't make sense. BTW, we tried to reset the IC via RST_N but it didn't work. Only powering down and up again can solve this issue. Which mode will lead to this issue? Thanks.

  • Hi Shaofeng,

If every register is reading 0x28E3, we can assume that the SMI interface is not functioning correctly. Please explain the failure condition in more detail. Does the reading of 0x28E3 only happen sometimes? And performing a power cycle allows you to read correct register values? Send me a screenshot of the command you are using to read registers. Please ensure the PHY address and MMD is correct.

    Thanks,

    David
