MAX3243E: RIN : High-imp condition

Part Number: MAX3243E

Hi,

When FORCEOFF=L, Output is high impedance, but Voltage of Rin pin is reduced.   Is this phenomena "normal behavior"?   Please advise us.

Also, are there any method to do high-impedance on Rin pin terminal?

Please advise us.

Thanks and best regards,
M.HATTORI.

  • Hi M. Hattori,

How large is the voltage drop on the RIN pin? Why is the customer applying voltage on RIN if the you are shutting off the device ? If you had a schematic snippet that you could share (I understand if you can't) of just the RS-232 bus - i.e what is driving the RIN pins when you force the device off. depending on the RS-232 bus will better determine if what you are seeing is possibly normal or abnormal behavior - please let me know!

But to answer your question - the RIN pin will never be high impedance - there are pull-down resistors (nominally 5K) on every RIN input.

    Best,
