Could the pin5 and pin8 of TCAN330/2/4/7 be tied to GND?

Yes. These are plain digital inputs (or not connected).

Clemens is correct, though grounding the pins will change the function of the device depending on the part number. On TCAN330 and TCAN334, the state of the device changes depending on the logic state of pins 5 and 8.
