TCA4307: SDAI / SDAO data mismatch

Part Number: TCA4307
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA4311, TCA9511A

Hi support team

During the evaluation of TCA4307 with our new product, I found sometimes SDAI and SDAO do not match as attached picture.

Could you please let me know the root cause and countermeasure ?

Masa

  • Hi Masa,

Can you get a measurement of what the VoL of the ACK is on the SDAI side?

Are there any series resistors infront of any of the MCUs/I2C targets on the inside (left) of the TCA4307 block diagram?

Can you read me the device marking on top of the device?

Are you able to share a more detailed schematic?

    Thanks,

    -Bobby

  • Hi Bobby,

VoL of ACK :  In above picture, voltage is around 0.4V

series resistors : There are only ferrite beads

    device marking : It seems 01J1 / 3JS

detail schematic : It's difficult to open it here. If you can accept direct email exchange, I'll send original schematic.

    Best regards

    Masa

  • Hi Masa,

You can send the schematic to duynguyen@ti.com

That device marking 3JS seems to indicate the device is the TCA4311, not the TCA4307. This seems to be the 'Missing ACK Errata' displated in section 7.2.4

Are you able to order a sample of the TCA4307/TCA9511A and replace it on the current failing unit? TCA4307/TCA9511A should resolve this issue

    -Bobby

  • Hi Bobby,

Thank you for pointing this out.
I had forgotten that I asked our vendor to mount TCA4311 instead of TCA4307 due to parts shortage.

After changing to TCA4307, this phenomenon was resolved.

I sincerely apologize for my misunderstanding.

    Masa
