DS90UB954-Q1: 953 pair with 933

Hello Elec,

Once you want to use 933 in combination with 954, you should do followings:
 
1) Use an external Oscillator on the 933 side. This oscillator should be connected to the 933 directly or to the image sensor.
 
2)Set the right resistors values on MODE pin or Register 0x6D[1:0] on the 954. The values depend on which Mode you want to use RAW10, RAW12 LF, RAW12 HF.

3) Set Register 0x58[2:0] BC_FREQ_SELECT to ‘000’ on the 954 (for 933 compatibility).
 
4) Set either Register 0x70 or 0x71 (at the 954) to the right value, to match the data type coming out of the image sensor to the Serializer.

setting either reg 0x70 or 0x71 depends on the used Mode on the SER, i.e. RAW10 or RAW12.

Please refer to the 954 d/s section "7.4.18 CSI-2 Data Type Identifier"

No, these values are if you want to assign new Virtual Channel ID instead of the default one. This is required sometimes from the SoC in order to split each camera's data if required.
