Also I do not see what you are describing! i.e. "one for four cameras, two for two in two out"

There are four FPDLINKs in total, which are connected to the camera in series. Two of them are one in and one out, and the other two are two in and one out. Three CSI interfaces of CPU are used.
Yes, this architecture is correct. They can use it in this way.
Alternatively, they can connect all 4x Cameras to 1x UB960 DES, and use it's 2x CSI output interfaces to the SoC.
