DP83867ERGZ-R-EVM: Power Suppy Input

You are correct, 5V input should be provided to LDO input.

For each external connection, you might need to change corresponding resistors. For eg., for using VDDA2P5_EXT, you need to depopulate R71 and populate R70. You can browse through the schematic for other supplies.

Thanks. I am asking this because I plan to buy DP83867ERGZ-R-EVM and do some testing on ethernet compliance test. We will use USB-2-MDIO tool with MSP-EXP430F5529LP launchpad.

though he is using DP83867IRPAP, may I ask if I need to connect both 5V and 3.3V as well for  DP83867ERGZ-R-EVM?

In this case, I have to remove R74 and place R77 and put 3v3 J10 of MSP-EXP430F5529LP to VDDIO_EXT pin 3 P2 of the DP83867ERGZ-R-EVM and of course the GND of J10 to GND of P2. Is this correct?

Or can the J7 of DP83867ERGZ-R-EVM be enough of this without removing R74? Thanks.

Also, from the attached video, it seems to me that the J9 of the evaluation board is connected to 3v3 of the launchpad, may I ask why? I believe J9 is connected to VDDA2P5.

For DP83867ERGZ-R EVM, you can either use (1) only 5V input or (2) use external supplies. More details are available in section2.2 of the EVM user manual https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/snlu190/snlu190.pdf

For MSP, you can use any source of voltage. To keep the things simple, you can let MSP power up from the USB voltage (i.e., from your PC or laptop).
In this case, you can just connect MDC, MDIO and ground between MSP and EVM.

In the above video, there are supplying power to MSP from the EVM. You can do this way too.
