DP83867IR: The crossover setting and the timing of the device

Hi team

My customer was trying to disable the auto negotiation of the device, but after doing so the communication between PHY was not established.

They then disabled the auto crossover setting, and set one board as MDI with another board as MDI-X, after this the communication was established.

Does the customer need to disable the crossover for 100M communication?

Also, could you please advice the time it takes for PHY to establish the communication in the following scenarios

  1. Auto negotiation enable & crossover enable
  2. Auto negotiation disable & crossover enable
  3. Auto negotiation disable & crossover disable

    Hi David,

    We do not recommend disabling auto-negotiation. Does the link not come up when auto-negotiation=enable & crossover=enable?

    Time to establish link is based on many variables so I cannot provide a link up time for each scenario. This testing will have to be done by the customer.
