AM26LV31E: RS422 converter for incremental optical encoder

Part Number: AM26LV31E

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to convert the differential signals from a HS35 incremental optical encoder to RS422 converter. The HS35 has 3 pairs of differential signals. It seems that he needs an opamp with differential input and RS422 convert such as AM26LV31E. Can you please confirm if this solution would worked? Do we have other solutions to this application?

  • The HS35 has many output options. The output might already be RS-422 compatible; which option and supply voltage are you using?

A RS-422 receiver works like a comparator; it would be possible to use transceivers with a suitable common-mode range.

  • Danilo,

Clemens is correct, the HS35, and many other encoders, has options to directly output to RS422 or RS485. It looks like the HS35 outputs in the range of 0-5V for some options as well, which would input directly into the differential pins of the transceiver.

    Regards,

    Eric Hackett
