DS125DF410: Chip power-on reset

Part Number: DS125DF410

We are using the chip's PRBS generator functions in free VCO running mode (without signals at its input ports). In general it works great and stable. But occasionally, it can stop outputting the PRBS signals. We don't exactly know what triggers this issue, though we think it may be related to some wrongful register write operations within our control code. When the issue happened, we tried resetting the shared registers (register 0x04) and the channel's core state machine, channel registers, ref clock domain as well as vco div clock domain (register 0x00), before running our PRBS initialization sequence again. Our finding was that the PRBS initialization sequence won't work unless the chip is power-recycled.

Here is our question. Is there a way to truly reset the chip back to the power-on state without recycling its power?

Thanks.

  • Hi Child,

The resets you mentioned cover all the device resets I am aware of.  This does seem like unusual behavior.  If you think it is a register write, would it be possible to do a register dump while the PRBS generator is working and a register dump after it stops.  After getting this register information, you could compare them to see if there is a setting that has contributed to this.

    Thanks,

    Drew
