Transformer-less Ethernet PHY and POE issues

Hello,

I have an application that is currently using a transformer-less setup to create the galvanic isolation required for interfacing with the Ethernet PHY. (using 1uf caps)

The issue we are having is when we connect a POE switch to this port it is damaging the PHY.

I have seen some application notes from TI on transformer-less ethernet but have not seen anything that concerns POE switches.

It is from my understanding that the POE switches can send a detection signal which I believe may be causing the issues.

Does TI have any suggestions with how to implement transformer-less Ethernet PHYs that are compatible with POE switches?

Thanks,

Dom
