DS90UB949-Q1EVM: Never getting CDR lock/link between serializer and deser

When you connect your UB949 board to your computer, can you write and read registers? If you go to registers Tab, reg 0x00 which value do you see there?

I belive I can read - 0x00 has the valueo of 18

please check your STP cable between SER and DES. It looks like you have no physical connection or wrong connection between the two boards.

Please check the connector pins connections if this is the right one matching with cable connection.

1- I can't open the link.

2- I think you may be using the wrong cable for this pinout. The connectors on the cable must be having the mirrored signals. See this Thread.

3. do you have any recommended cable assembly? I cant seem to find any other pinout configuration

So first I had to beak down the cable plastic housing and melt the key in the cable so i can turn it in any orientation

But the closest I can get:


I think further modifications are not possible since the cable is crimped shut.

As a backup option I tried soldering twisted pair from the HDMI cable

With this configuration i got correct printout/connections, but still not signal. (No matter the Coax/Twisted pair boot option)

I will try ordering SMA cables to test that out.

And I would like to ask you - can you provide a part number of a HSD cable I can buy that would be plug and play? What cable do you use in your testing? I would also like to buy and test that.

Can you use SMA connectors and connect using Coax cables, similar to the screenshot below? But you need to populate the 0ohm resistors between device and connectors.

If that is not possible, you may need to ship those boards to me if possible!
