DS90UB927Q-Q1: support resolution?

Part Number: DS90UB927Q-Q1

Hi Team,

Can DS90UB927 support video data transmission at 8192*960 and 24fps?

Best Regards,

Don

  • Hello Don,

No, this resolution is very high. This device can support any PCLK between 5MHz to 85MHz.

    PCLK = Hres x Vres x Fps x blanking

  • Hi Hamzeh,

In my system design, the output data format is mono 8 bits depth.

If calculated as PCLK = Hres x Vres x Fps x blanking, what's the maximum resolution of Hres=8192?

    Thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Don

  • If you calculate the PCLK for your resolution, you will have PCLK= 226.5MHz which is ways to high for the UB927.

  • Hi Hamzeh,

But we are using UB927 which can support to 8192*1000@24fps mono 8 in Camera Link line scan mode, but not support this resolution in frame scan mode.

The display resolution 4096*480@166fps is shown as follows(3 ICs run together in camera test pattern mode).

UB927 can support 720P(1280*720*60*24) in SPEC, while 8192*1000*8*24<720P(1280*720*60*28)

Could I understand that UB927 can support to  8192*1000@24fps mono 8 mode?

    Thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Doncheng.

  • Hello Don,

Can you please tell me what is the PCLK you are using? Because the UB927 does not care about resolution! It cares only if your PCLK within the range in the datasheet (I sent you the supported PCLK) or not!

  • Hi Hamzeh,

    Apologies for this delay.

In my system, the PCLK is 85MHz, but I found that UB927 can support 8192*1000@24fps mono 8 in Camera Link line scan mode, not support this resolution in frame scan mode.

The difference between linescan mode and framescan mode is that linescan mode transmits data in row units, and framescan mode transmits data in frame units (the row height within a frame can be greater than 1).

So I want to know from you is what the maximum resolution can UB927 support in camera application. And why UB927 can not support  8192*1000@24fps mono 8 resolution in frame scan mode?

    Thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Doncheng.

  • Hello Don,

I am not really sure what Mono 8 is, and do not know what frame scan or line scan modes are!

What I can tell you is that the UB927 does not care about resolution! It cares only if your PCLK within the range 5MHZ to 85MHz or not.

It looks like the Frame scan mode requires slightly higher bandwidth than Line scan mode. And as your PCLK is 85MHz which is the max this device can support; I believe the Frame scan mode is not supported anymore.
