TDP1204: Difference between TDP1204 and TMDS1204?

Hello,

I am looking to design an FPGA-based PCBA for video processing. I'd like to have an HDMI 2.1 input and HDMI 2.1 output.

The HDMI signals will connect to 16Gbps high-speed serial transceivers on the FPGA. But I will need signal conditioning.

About 6ft copper external cables will be used.

PCBA approximation: FPGA->1 inch trace->high speed connector->2 inch trace->HDMI IC->1 inch trace->HDMI connector

What is the difference between the TDP1204 and TMDS1204? which should I use?

Is this a source or a sink design?

But this looks to be a source application, if this is the case, then you should use TDP1204.

Hi David,

I will have 1 HDMI input and 1 HDMI output. So 1 will be sink and 1 will be source.

Could the TDP1204 be used for both?

The other note is, my PCB needs to be compatible with 2.1 and older HDMI as well like 2.0 and 1.4

Hi,

For the sink side, does the sink have a separate CLK and a FRL_LANE3? If it does not, then you can use TDP1204.

Both the TDP1204 and TMDS1204 support HDMI1.4, 2.0, and 2.1.
