DS320PR810: Debug and EEPROM questions

Part Number: DS320PR810
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY

Hi,

We have meet some issue not sure DS320PR810 work is normal or not.

  1. Does Below two documents is for EEPROM programming guide, right? Or we should follow other document for EEPROM programming?
  2. Is there have any quick debug guide for DS320PR810? Because all PCIE signal in the inner layer, not sure the PCIE output signal is normal or not.
  3. Please see attached EEPROM file, it doesn’t matter for using USB2ANY or other FW tool flash EEPEOM, right?

Thanks!

Jeff

  • Hi Jeff,

Thanks for posting this on E2E forum. Please note earlier comments below:

1). Please use DS320PR810 GUI to create EEPROM file – as you have done below. This is the easiest way. You can run this software even in demo mode to generate EEPROM hex files. Also, you can use BMC – in your block diagram – to setup the registers or program the EEPROM based on the EEPROM vendor recommendations/procedures.

2). DS320PR810 is a linear redriver or an analog buffer. In a PCIe  environment, root complex and end point can report signal condition – eye height and width – at each point within the signal path. Suggestion is to check with either root complex or the end point vendor to check into these capabilities.

3). It is recommended to start with the lowest CTLE index – index 0 – and then increase one index at a time. At each index we should restart and check for Gen5 L0 state. In some instances, you may need to use a different setting for downstream versus upstream. Based on our experience, most of the times we use the same settings for both sidesa dn it has worked fine for us.

  • Hi Nasser,

    Another question,

We used below step to set DS320PR810 config, channel 4~7 show incomplete, but using tool read again can get our setting, it is normal?

    Step.1

    Enter Address and press apply

    Step.2

    Set EQ

    Step.3

Back to high level page check setting, channel 0~3 show EEPROM load complete,

But channel 4~7 show EEPROM load incomplete,

    thanks!

  • Hi Jeff,

Please note DS320PR810 EVM user guide document for detailed operations.

1). Note in EVM Device Model tab, we should select DS320PR810EVM-RSC. In your image, it seems you are selecting DS320PR810-SMA.

2). Please use High Level Page tab of the GUI to set different CTLE settings.

3). Please note  steps above and review the user guide for further details.

    Regards,,Nasser
