DP83TD510E: TDR - High Impedance Cable

Part Number: DP83TD510E

Hello,

I am doing some testing of cables using the TDR function in the PHY.  I am using our custom board and writing code to execute the TDR and display the results in the debugger.  The cable is not connected to a second board (it's either open or shorted).  Some cables get reasonable TDR results including whether the cable is open or shorted, but some come back with a Zero length which is to be interpreted as "possible high impedance cable" - which I believe is true as this is Type A Fieldbus (FF) cable.  The part that is puzzling is that we can get comms to work with zero errors on the FF cable up to 300m - at 400m we see a few errors.  But the TDR function will not work at all at 300m.  Are there different register settings for the TDR that might give us TDR results for this cable?  I am setting the registers as outlined in snla364c.

Thanks,

Mike.
