DP83822IF: Layout of termination caps/resistors

Part Number: DP83822IF

Ethernet team,

Our customer is using the DP82822IF with a 1x9 fiber optic transceiver.  Section 9.2.2 of the datasheet says to place the resistors and caps as close as possible to the transceiver.  On the EVM, the caps C47, C48, C49, C50 are placed further away, under the transformer.  Shouldn't they be closer to the transceiver?

Thanks,
Darren

  • Darren,

C47-C50 are isolation capacitors (optional based on customer's design, needed for fiber.) The EVM is for functional evaluation/proof-of-concept, so is designed for multiple use cases; Therefore, I would recommend sticking to the datasheet.

    Sincerely,

    Jason Lee
