DS160PR410: how to configure DS160PR410 as DP redriver

Part Number: DS160PR410

Hi team,

customer configure DS160PR410 as DP redriver (DP-2k,4k). The configuration is RX_DET pull up through 59kohm,PWDN pull down to GND through 4.7kohm, ENSMB pull down to GND through 1kohm, EQ1 and EQ0 pull down to GND through 59kohm.

1. with above configuration, quality of DP signal output by redriver has no significant improvement. In 8.2.2 of datasheet, the description said " The DS160PR410 can be used as a four channel DisplayPort (DP) redriver for data rates up to 20 Gbps. To use the device in a non-PCIe application, the RX_DET pin must be pin-strapped to GND with 59 kΩ resistor (L3).", but in figure 13, RX_DET pin is pull up to 3.3V. What's the correct configuration for DP redriver?

2. what;s the Equalization Settings for DS160PR410 used as DP redriver?  customer want some guide for DP redriver like application note "How to Tune DS160PR410 for Best Signal Integrity". Do you have any suggestion here?

Thanks!

BR.

  • Hi Rayna,

1). RX_DET should be pin strapped to GND through 59K-Ohm Resistor(L3 mode). This would disable RX detect state machine typically used for PCIe applications. We will look into correcting figure 13.

2). I believe we still can use "How to Tune DS160PR410 for Best Signal Integrity". Given customer transmission media insertion loss profile, this can be matched to the this guideline to select appropriate CTLE settings. Alternatively, customer can sweep CTLE settings and optimize output eye opening.
