THVD1424: Half duplex pin connection

Part Number: THVD1424

Hello
For my design to use THVD1424 for half duplex (with H/F pin tie to High) application, shall the MCU I/O connect just to THVD1424 pin Y and Z (there is already internal connection within the IC to both transmit and receive buffer as shown in the figure 9.6 of datasheet)? and leave pin A and B floating since these two pins are not in use in half duplex application? and also leave the pin TERM_RX floating or tie to GND?

  • This is specified  in section 8.4 of the datasheet.

In half duplex mode, only Y and Z are used, and A/B/TERM_RX do not matter and can be left open.

  • Hi Edward,

    Clemens is correct:

H/F pin can be controlled as seen below

A/B pins can be left floating since they will be connected internally through the Y/Z pins in half duplex mode.

TERM_RX is a don't care when H/F is High and TERM_TX has higher priority:

So you should be able to leave TERM_RX floating (it has an internal pull-down)  as it is a don't care during half duplex mode.

Please let me know if you have any more questions!

    Best,

    Parker Dodson
