Hello Team,

can you confirm if the bridge on the DP83TG720EVM-MC between the DP83TG720S-Q1 and the DP83867ERGZT may work without the MCU programming.

The optimal would be that via external boostrap resistors it would be enough to make the two PHY work in the media converter.

For the end product no MCU may be available, unless it is a must to have.

The 720 is not preloaded with these configurations - the MCU is required to program this.

Thanks for the information.

The customer claimed that without connecting the MCU board for the programming, the power up settings looks to work for the media bridge evaluation board DP83TG720EVM-MC (SPE to ETH).

Are the default settings for the 720 good for it?

They would not need more than that.

On the other hand, if the MCU is a must to have. Can we share the source code for the MSP430?

Hi Sunset,

The default settings can work in limited instances, but the settings shown in the above appnote are recommended for optimized performance with different link partners.

We cannot share the source code for the MSP430 - the binary file should be sufficient for reading/writing registers using the USB-2-MDIO GUI.
