TUSB211: D1x must be shorted to D2x

Part Number: TUSB211

Hello TI experts,

my customer considers TUSB211 for their new product.

we checked datasheet and several EVMs, and we found that D1x must be shorted to D2x.

is it necessary to short D1x and D2x? what would be happen if we don't short these pins?

(They will use USB 2.0 high speed only.)

Best regards,

Chase

  • Hi Chase,

The TUSB211 and other USB2 redrivers do not need to break the continuity of the DP and DM USB lines, they boost the USB signal passively. As such, you can leave DP and DM, or D1X and D2X, shorted and place the redriver over these lines. If these are not shorted, then the redriver will not go into effect.

Please let me know if you or your customer have any other questions or concerns regarding this redriver or anything surrounding it.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
