Hello,

Is it feasible to use AC coupling in customer applications? See the appendix for details。

  • Hey,

Looking at the customer's AC coupling diagram, there is no common mode voltage going into the receiver. With AC coupling, you need to provide the correct biasing to each receiver. If not, the receivers will give a failsafe option.

The biasing circuit should restore the common mode and differential voltage. Additionally, resistor tolerances need to be taken into account since they could impact the duty cycle and make the signal unbalanced.

You can refer to Figure 3 and Figure 4 on this App Note: How to Terminate LVDS Connections on how to provide the biasing circuit to each receiver.

It's also important to have a data pattern that's DC balanced, otherwise you could experience DC wander.

I've attached an image for assistance.

    Regards,

    Josh
