DS110DF111: Interface forum

Part Number: DS110DF111
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS125DF111

We are working on a new design and we are planning to use the TI DS110DF111 part. Actually, we may go with the DS125DF111 part due to availability as we see it today.
Our design use is a 10GbE (10.3125GHz) retimer. We plan to add this part between a processor, with an XFI interface and a 10GbE SFP port.
Can you provide feedback on this use case? Is this the right part (DS110) to use? Is there a better part, i.e. better price and availability ? Do you see any issues with using the DS110DF111 or DS125 part, e.g. longevity, long lead times etc.
Our design would use two parts per board. We looked at the larger quad channel retimer but we didn't  like the way the differential pairs come out of the package, it made route more difficult.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Mario,

Both DS110DF111 and DS125DF111 would be good choices for your use case. The tradeoff is DS110DF111 is cheaper, but DS125DF111 has greater inventory currently. Do note that if you choose DS125DF111, you will need to configure the CDR to lock to 10GbE as this is not the default data rate.

    Best,

    Lucas
