TCAN1043A-Q1: Exceeding the Absolute Maximum Ratings

Part Number: TCAN1043A-Q1

TCAN1043A-Q1

From the DS, TCAN1043A-Q1's VCC absolute maximum rating is 6V.

We have a condition where VCC will go until 8V. Could you please let know for how long TCAN1043A-Q1 can sustain this fault condition.

Thanks!

  • Hi Asha,

The absolute maximum specifications describe the point at which permanent damage may occur to the device. We are unable to guarantee device reliability after being exposed to conditions outside of this range for any amount of time (unless the conditions conform to one of the listed ESD test standards).

If it is expected that the Vcc rail is to experience a fault to 8V, I recommend including a circuit that will prevent the voltage at the transceiver's supply pin from exceeding 6.0V such as a load switch or zener diode.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Regards,
    Eric Schott
