TUSB9261: About SPI Flash and commands

Hi Team,

I have four questions.

I understand that if we wrote the firmware to SPI Flash and after that SPI Flash is "read only" by TUSB9261.

Is my understanding correct?

[Q2]

Could you please let us know the command that TUSB9261 uses for SPI Flash?

[Q3]

Can TUSB9261 confirm Manufacture ID and Device ID of SPI Flash?

If yes, can TUSB9261 use commands for each ID?

We would like to know if TUSB9261 has the above function.

[Q4]

Currently, our customer use M25P40-VMN6PB but it is EOL.

Therefore, they are looking for an alternative product of SPI Flash.

First choice is MT25QL128ABA1ESE-0SIT.

Do you have a track record of operating TUSB9261 with MT25QL128ABA1ESE-0SIT?

And, I understand that the selection conditions for SPI Flash are as follows.

Could you please let us know if you have any concern?

Hi Hide-san,

1. Yes, when flashed, the data becomes read only for the TUSB9261.

2. Supported commands can be found here: https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface/f/138/t/613069?TUSB9261-TUSB9261-SPI-flash

3. The TUSB9261 can read these IDs from the SPI, but the best way to confirm these values would be to use the USB Descriptors in the burner software or device manager.

4. The list of TI-tested SPI Flash devices can be found in section 10 of the TUSB9261 Implementation guide. Other than those, we do not have any track record of using this part. The best way to see if it is compatible is to follow the requirements listed in the E2E thread you posted, and to check that these opcodes are supported: https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface/f/138/t/613069?TUSB9261-TUSB9261-SPI-flash . Personally, I do not have any experience with the MT25QL128ABA1ESE-0SIT, but if it fits these guidelines, it should be compatible.
