DS90UB953-Q1: with DS90UB960-Q1, forwarding POC power

Part Number: DS90UB953-Q1

Hello

I'm currently designing a system for forwarding video signals and POC power.
This system is between the equipment that requires video signals (hereafter referred to as ECU) and the camera.
This system has a DS90UB954 or DS90UB960 Deserializer to receive the video signal from the camera,
In addition, it has a DS90UB953 to forwarding the video signal to the ECU.
Power for the camera is supplied by the ECU through the POC and this system forwards it to the camera.

I think there is no functional problem with forwarding the video signal.
On the other hand I am thinking that there might be a problem with the forwarding of POC power.
When connecting the output of the POC filter circuit of the Serializer and the input of the POC filter circuit of the Deserializer,
Is there a possibility that the communication status of the two FPDLinks will be adversely affected?

Using an EVM as an example, the 953EVM "POC_VOLTAGE" node and the 960EVM "VFEED1" node are directly connected.
Since we are thinking of implementing POC voltage detection and POC power forwarding output control,
there is a possibility that a high-side switch will be inserted between the two nodes in the future.

Masakazu

  • Hello Masakazu-san,

This is a valid use case which is being widely used by different customers.

You can implement a high-side switch to control the output current and do the current/voltage measurements without problem.

  • Hello Hamzeh,

    Thank you for your reply.
It was a very meaningful Q&A because I didn't know if this kind of POC usage was widely used.
Just to be sure, let's check the communication quality of each FPDLink by using MAP with two POC filters directly connected.
    Thank you very much.

    Regards,

    Masakazu
