TSER953: About reference clock in Synchronous mode

Part Number: TSER953
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDES954, TDES960

Hi All,

I have a question about the TSER953.
In the datasheet below, there are reference clocks of 25MHz and 12MHz for Synchronous mode.

Input to reference clock for TDES960 and TDES954, but only 25MHz. Is it possible to input 12MHz for reference clock?

Best Regards,
Ishiwata

  • Hello Ishiwata,

On the DES you can use only 23MHz - 26MHz as REFCLK. In the Synch Mode this frequency will be forwarded to the SER over the BC. The DES will either forward this REFCLK as is for the full-rate, where BC rate is 50Mbps, or divide it by two and send it for the half-rate, where BC rate is 25Mbps (if supported by the DES)
