TS3DV642-Q1: Propagation delay

Part Number: TS3DV642-Q1

Hello,

is there any further information about the propagation delay of the device. Is there a maximum value?

Our idea is to use two of these devices to switch the input from two deserializer (A and B) with odd and even pixel lanes to a receiver (R)

This would mean that one IC will switch between even pixel lanes of A and B to R while the second IC will switch the odd pixel lanes same way.

Is it feasible or the propagation delay could cause malfunctions?

Thanks for your support,

Luca

  • Luca:

It's old device and we can only find typical value. What is your data rate of your application?

    Regards

    Brian

  • Hi Brian,

our interface will be an OLDI and our total pixel clock should be a little below 100MHz.

Hence we will have 50MHz on odd and even pclk with a data rate on the data lines of 350Mbit/s.

    Regards,

    Luca

  • for 350mb/s, each bit is 2.85ns, so 60-100ps delay should be fine.

What my concern is channel switching time, it could take 5us to switching channel and don't know what's is the difference  between switching time of tw0 mux.

  • Hi Brian,

About the channel switching, it will be executed once during start-up before the receiver is activated. There will be no switching during operation, so this should not be a problem. What do you think?

What I was afraid of is the maximum propagation delay which should not be more than 1 bit (max inter-pair skew according to oLDI spec). That is why I was asking about a maximum for that parameter.

Due that the typical is 66ps I do not think that the maximum could be more than 5x (so around 300ps). Hence it shall be fine.

Anyway, is there any more characterization data for this parameter? Or is there a similar device where this value is specified?

    Thanks very much,

    Luca

  • Luca:;

we don't have more characterization data for delay, but max delay  should not more than 150ps.

If you need only Q1 device, we don't have other Mux for HDMI 2.0.

    Regards

    Brian

  • Hi Brian,

150ps is well below the 1 bit limit, that's what I thought too.

Thanks a lot for your support,

    Luca
