PCA9543A: address conflict problem

Part Number: PCA9543A

Hi,

My customer has a address conflicting question related to PCA9543A need to double check with you.

They have PCA9543A and a device that address is 0xA0 under same bus channel.

And they use another device address is also 0xA0 under channel 1 of PCA9543A.

Will it be address conflict(0xA0) issue if they change PCA9543A channel from Ch0 to Ch1 by master?

  • Which channel is the "same bus channel"?

The master channel at the SDA/SCL pins is always active. If the 0xA0 device is on that channel, then you cannot have another 0xA0 device on any slave channel.

  • Hi Jim,

It might help if you post a block diagram of the I2C system. I'm not 100% sure I understand. My guess is you're saying there are two devices downstream from the 9543 which have the same address and you're worried if they have that device on the main channel and channel 1?
