DS90UB940N-Q1: if it's used to replace DS90UB948 in 2k video resolution application, what video resolution will the output be?

Part Number: DS90UB940N-Q1

In our application, we want to use DS90UB940N to replace DS90UB948 to output csi signal. The supported max resolution for ub940 is 1080p, but it's 2k for ub948. If two pairs of Fpd-LINK III carrying 2k video signal are connected to UB940, how should we get best video quality from CSI output?

Hello Wei,

If you are using 2 single links at the input of DES, then the UB940N can support the exact data rate of the UB948, since these two devices do support a PCLK in single link = 96MHz.

But if you are using a Dual-Link then the max PCLK supported by the UB940N is 170MHz, where the UB948 can support up to 192MHz.

To know if your resolution is supported or not, you need to calculate the PCLK and make sure it is within the above-mentioned rates. You can calculate PCLK using this formula:

PCLK = Hres x Vres x Fps x blanking

If the PCLK is out of ub940n range, what happens? No display at all or it can be converted to lower resolution by ub940?

The 940 does not convert to lower resolution. On the Display, you may see missing parts of the image!
