Hi team,
One of our customer's issues, I'm forwarding it below, could you please provide some troubleshooting suggestions? And I am not familiar with Ethernet, if there are any inaccuracies in the translation, please do not hesitate to ask.
issues:
Do I need an external synchronous Ethernet chip and a phase-locked loop circuit in the synchronous Ethernet mode of the DP83640?
How does the main clock send the time code information, and how does it accept the time code information when slave clock enables synchronous Ethernet mode? Is there an official reference code for Synchronous Ethernet?
Or can synchronous Ethernet mode be achieved using the DP83840 chip alone?
Best Regards,
Amy Luo
Hi Amy,
Just to understand more on the application, is the customer enquiring about 1588 Time Synchronization?

Hi Gokul,
Glad to see your reply.
The following is customer feedback:
I have implemented 1588 time synchronization using the DP83640 chip. I chose to use the synchronous Ethernet mode of the DP83640 because of the need to enhance synchronization accuracy, but I did not find a specific implementation method.

Hi Amy,
I don't think DP83640 supports SyncE. Is customer okay to use a different Ethernet PHY of TI?
