TCA9544A:Circuit configuration that enables HOT SWAP

Part Number: TCA9544A

Hello

Will the HOT SWAP function work effectively in a circuit with the following configuration?

Best regards.

  • Hello,

An engineer is working on this question. Because of the holidays, TI E2E design support forum responses may be delayed through Jan. 3. Thank you for your patience.

    Best,

    Chris

  • The TCA9544A is a slave device, so its I²C pins are high impedance until the master accesses it.

The image does not show any other I²C devices on the main PCB, so there is no danger that the plug-in action could disturb other I²C communication.

When the extension LDO has not yet started up, a current might flow from the main 3.3 V through the pull-up resistors into the externsion 3.3 V supply. As far as the TCA9544A itself is concerned, this is no problem.
