DP83TD510E: Overall Inquiry

Part Number: DP83TD510E

Hello Expert,

Our customer have a plan to use this part.

So there are some questions.

Could you please give me your comment about each items as below?

1) Is it possible to send up to 2000m through 10Mbps data with a normal UTP cable?

2) Is 10Mbps data rate unidirectional or bi-directional?

3) If it is not bi-directional for 10Mbps, What's the data rate for bi-directional?

4) Can we use coaxial cable instead of UTP?

5) If it can support a coaxial cable, is there an application design guide?

6) Are there any long-distance parts which is SPE Phy for providing 100Mbps data rate?

Best regards,

Michael

  • Hi Michael,

    2) DP83TD510E is full-duplex, so the data rate is bi-directional.

    3) The data rate is independent of the duplex mode, with the total data throughput varying instead.

    5) We do not have a guide for this. If a coaxial cable is possible, the customer would need to validate it.

    6) Our 10/100 industrial PHYs follow the standard, which defines a 100m cable reach. Beyond this, the customer would need to validate the cable reach to determine if and where signal repeaters are needed.

I am discussing queries (1) and (4) with the team.

    Thank you,

    Evan
