DS90UB948-Q1: DS90UB948 or DS90UB9488 have POC ( power on Coaxial) function?

Part Number: DS90UB948-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB954-Q1, DS90UB953-Q1,

Hello Experts:

1. DS90UB948 or DS90UB9488 have POC ( power on Coaxial) function?

2. Can DS90UB948 or DS90UB9488 power down or sleep without using PDB pin  if no video signals from serializer ?

Thanks

  • Johnny,

TI has never run extensive test/validation for PoC with 94x. In theory it is possible to implement PoC similar to what is done on our camera products such as DS90UB953-Q1 or DS90UB954-Q1, but the operating frequency ranges including the back channel data rate and forward channel data rates are different, and care must be taken to provide extremely high impedance along the PoC path to signals in the bandwidth of the FPD-Link FC/BC for PoC to work effectively. Since this has not been validated by TI, we can not provide direct guidance on implementation, and the validation of any PoC implementation here would fall under the responsibility of the customer.

The DS90UB948-Q1 does not have any sleep function outside of the PDB pin. There is no device called DS90UB9488, so not sure what you are referring to there.

  • Thanks Casey.

Can have DS90UB948 power down or sleep if no video signals from serializer ?

  • Hello Johnny,

There is no automatic power down/sleep function for the DS90UB948-Q1. If it is powered on with PDB = H, then the back channel will be active, and the deserializer will continuously search for the forward channel video signal. If PDB = L, then the deserializer will be inactive. The PDB must be controlled by an external device such as MCU if you wish to power down the deserializer while the power rails are up

    Best Regards,

    Casey
