MAX3232: Asking for MAX3232 design review and suggestions

Part Number: MAX3232

Hi Team,

Customer would like to design MAX3232. There is failed case among two chip. (1/2 failed case)

Target to MP soon. Would you please help review schematic and provide your comments to see any abnormal on design?

For ok IC case, pin 9 is 5V.

For failed IC, pin 9 is 1.3V.

ABA swap experiment is verified.

RD also double checked the IC pin 9 impedance itself (remove IC from PCB board). No obviously difference on pin9.

Hi SHH,

I am not sure if you saw the email I sent a couple weeks ago but:

C1 capacitor should be 470nF not 47nF for proper operation of the charge pump.
Tin2 needs to be pulled to VCC or GND as this pin cannot be left floating (the Tout2 could oscillate/glitch if Tin2 is left floating which could add unwanted EMI and could cause other EMC issues)
