TSS721A: TIDM-1005 schematic

Part Number: TSS721A

Hi

Can you please provide the schematic of TI TIDM-1005 board for our reference?

  • Hi Gareth,

It looks like TIDM-1005 might have been removed from ti.com, but I'm not too sure of the history. I will look into this and get back to you.

    Best,

    Danny

  • Gareth,

Quick update - TIDM-1005 was obsoleted about a year and a half ago. I'll try and figure out whether we still have some of this documentation, but it looks like its support has been formally discontinued. I will follow up here again with what I can find.

    Best,

    Danny

  • Hi Danny

    Thank you for your information

TIDM-1005 describes RS485 protocol to MBUS protocol. Does he send it directly, or does he need to transfer the protocol? The Tx and Rx of RS485 are both UARTs to MBUS Tx and RX, can they be directly connected to transmit? Regardless of the protocol. Assume that the direction control is not considered.

  • Gareth,

Please excuse the delay in response as Danny is out on vacation until Tuesday next week.

    Regards,

    Eric Hackett

  • Gareth,

Thanks for your patience during my absence.

RS-485 and Meter-Bus are both half-duplex communication protocols. Connecting TX to RX and vice-versa would likely present a lockup condition. This is why the original TIDM-1005 reference design required protocol conversion. From my initial investigation, it looks like TIDM-1005 implemented MSP432P401R to do this conversion.

    Best,

    Danny
