1.may I know why should we place choke on the data line of USB?

2. should we place it closer to connector or host?

Choke is for reduce EMI .close to host is better.

for 2; it also depends on the board design.

Depends on the noise source, the CMC needs to be between noise source and the connector if there is EMI issue,

typically we don’t recommend CMC.
