DS250DF230: Application problem

Part Number: DS250DF230
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS250DF810

Hi Team,

For the DS250DF230ZLST and DS250DF810ABVT, customer wants to config 12.5G. Would you please share this config guide line? When switching between 9.8G and 12.5G, is it necessary to configure a retimer? How should configured it ?

Many thanks~

  • Hi,

You may request download access to the retimer programming guide via the TI.com product page (see link below). The programming guide has all of the pertinent details for retimer registers needed for functional configuration.

    https://www.ti.com/drr/opn/DS250DF230-DESIGN

    Quick summary,

    • On the TI 25G/28G retimers the user needs to set the retimer for the specific data rate being operated via the I2C channel registers.
    • If switching data rate, the user would need to apply the new data rate setting via channel registers and then apply a CDR reset and release operation
    • The DS250DF230 supports both 9.8G and 12.5G in retimed mode
    • The D250DF810 supports 12.5G in retimed mode but not 9.8G. The user may configure the DS250DF810 to CDR bypass mode (refer to the programming guide for operation at 9.8G rate)

Below CDR rate 12.5G setting applies to both DS250DF810 and DS250DF230

    Regards,

    Rodrigo Natal
