DS90UB933-Q1: About SerDes Combinations

Hi Team,

Please tell us about some of them.

I am planning to create a matrix table of possible combinations of SerDes for FPD-LINK III.
The aim is to avoid any problems with component selection in future product development.

For example, I imagine a matrix table like this.
(the vertical axis is Deserializer and the horizontal axis is Serializer)

DS90UB933 DS90UB953 etc
DS90UB934 OK OK
DS90UB954 OK OK
etc


First of all, does such a list exist?
If so, please provide it.

Second, is it possible to determine if a combination is possible or not by looking at the model number?
If so, please let us know.

Third, comparing specifications such as color depth (bpp) and pixel clock frequency (max) (MHz), it seems that DS90UB933 (Ser) and DS90UB662 (Des) can be combined, but is it possible?
If you cannot combine them, please tell us why not.

    Hi Masanori, 

    Please refer to a device's datasheet to see a list of compatible devices. You can usually find this information on the first page. 

    For your third question, this is not a recommended pairing. If you look in the DS90UB662 datasheet, it lists the DS90UB633A-Q1 serializer and DS90UB63x CSI-2 serializers as compatible devices. In general, we recommend that you follow datasheet guidelines when it comes to pairing our devices.

    Thank you for your answer.
    As I had imagined, you mean that I need to check the datasheet.

    I would like to know the basis for compatible pairings listed in the datasheet, can I inquire about that individually and you can tell me?

    For the time being, I would like to know why DS90UB933 (Ser) and DS90UB662 (Des) are not compatible.

    Hi Masanori,

    The DS90UB662 is designed to only be compatible with other 6xx devices, so that is why it is not compatible with the 933.

    Hi Masanori,

    The 6xx devices are part of the cost-optimized portfolio, so the biggest difference is compatibility. In general, the specs between the 6xx and 9xx series are similar, but 6xx specs are narrower. To look at what specific features/specs are different, you can refer to the individual datasheets.
