DP83867ERGZ-S-EVM: 1000Base-T Compiliance test with capacitive coupling

Hi Gokul,

Peak Output Voltage test and MDI Common Mode Output Voltage test are failing.
As for Template Tests, the results are unstable.
Although below shows Point H looks pass, it sometimes fails and the other Template tests as well.

Hi Gokul,

Thanks for reply. I noticed I didn't set Reg 0x01D5 0xF508 and Point A/B Peak Output Voltage test has passed after setting it!
But Template Test and MDI Common Mode Output Voltage Test are still failing.
Although I tried the tests using magnetics instead of capacitors, it didn't change.
This board has undesireble pattern stub because both magenetics and capacitors can be mounted and I guess it negatively affects the test results.
How do you think about it? Has TI ever performed compliance test using this board before ?

Hi Toshi-san,

DP83867 doesn't support capacitive coupling. PMA compliance testing is not carried out with cap coupling, but BER testing showed a few packet errors.

So, I think we should only debug PMA compliance with only magnetics for DP83867.

If you need capacitive coupling solution, then I propose using DP83869HM. BER testing is done on DP83869HM and we found no packet errors. However, PMA conformance was not fully tested. In case, you want to use DP83869HM, I will support you with the debug of compliance testing failures if you observe any.
